The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or the WBCHSE, like the WBBSE, is another government of West Bengal administered autonomous examining authority for the 12th standard examination in the state of West Bengal. The 12th standard examination is known as the Higher Secondary examination or the Uchyaa Madhyamik Examination and being the pre university level examination, it is of extreme importance for the students. The Higher Secondary examination is conducted every year under the governance of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examination.

The main administrative office of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examination is located at the Salt Lake City in Kolkata and main function of this apex organization in Kolkata is to look after proper and harmonized conduction of the Higher Secondary level examination in the state. Established under the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education Act, 1975, main goal of this council is to reorganize the pattern of Secondary Education in West Bengal.
