The West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences has been established with the view of enhancing education and research in the fields of Fishery Science, diary Technology, Veterinary and Animal Science. The university is undertaking research with the aim of solving various problems relating to livestock and fish production in the respective ecological zones in West Bengal.
One of the main purposes of the research undertaken by the West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences is facilitating the rural people with new ways of cultivating fish and dairy production.
The West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences was established in the year 1955, on the 2nd of January, through West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences Act-VI.
